Compete in teams to create the tastiest dishes out of the library’s three super-secret ingredients! Inspired by the Food Network show, this event is open to teens in grades 6-12. Call the library at 330-343-6123 to register or for more information.
*Please let the library know of any food allergies when registering.
Teens will be divided into teams and asked to make an appetizer, a main dish, and a dessert using the library’s three secret ingredients and miscellaneous items from the library’s “Pantry.” Each dish must contain at least one of the three ingredients. Each of the three ingredients must be used at least once. There must be enough of each dish to serve a taste to everyone at the event. Judging will be based on the use of the three ingredients, creativity, presentation, and, of course, taste. After the allotted time is up, everyone will get a chance to sample everyone else’s dishes and vote for the team that they think should win. Teens cannot vote for their own teams. The winning team will get special recognition and a free book. Goody bags will be given to all participants.
All ingredients, secret or otherwise, will be vegetarian. No ingredients will need to be cooked. A microwave will be available for heating ingredients. All teens will be expected to clean up their own area and do their own dishes before leaving the event.
Past secret ingredients have included: Ramen noodles, Hershey kisses, bread, and candy corn.
PS: Did you know that if you melt candy corn, you will probably melt your plastic spoon and ruin a Gladware container? And when it hardens, it’s like plastic? The things you learn at Chopped!
