Kids Caring for Community Feature Project:
Kids Helping Kids
This summer we’re focusing on kindness and caring in our community. With the following programs we will be raising awareness about children with cerebral palsy, asthma, and feeding issues through a local family’s story. We will be raising money for gas gift cards to help take some of the financial weight off of their shoulders. No registration is required for these programs (except for the walk-a-thon), and all ages are welcome to attend!
Beal Family Presentation Wednesday, June 21 at 6:00 PM. All ages welcome.
The Beal family will be here to raise awareness about the needs and concerns for children with cerebral palsy, feeding issues, and other medical conditions which affect everyday life for families. This will be a great opportunity for kids to ask questions and learn that, even though some kids deal with different challenges, they’re still kids who want to be treated and accepted just like everyone else.
Lemonade and Popcorn Stand Monday, July 10 from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM. All ages welcome.
We’ll have lemonade and popcorn available for a donation towards our StoryWalk®-a-thon. Are you able to help? Please call (330)343-6123 if you and your child are able to run the stand for half an hour (or more!) All materials provided.
Lunch with a Librarian and Tara Beal Tuesday, July 25 at 12:00 PM. All ages welcome.
Pack a lunch and meet us at the Rotary Pavilion at Dover City Park for a chat with Tara Beal. Learn about the challenges involved with cerebral palsy and feeding issues, then go on a StoryWalk®. This week’s story will be about children who receive nourishment through methods other than eating.
StoryWalk®-a-thon Saturday, July 29 from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. All ages welcome.
While all ages are welcome to join us for this event, the goal will be to have one child (birth – 5th grade) on the StoryWalk® at all times during the event. Children may be in strollers, wagons, on foot, or carried. Please call the library at (330)343-6123 to register for a time slot. This is a free event, but we will be collecting voluntary donations for the Beal Family throughout the day. Please show your support by walking, donating, or both!
The StoryWalk® is located at Dover City Park around the pond, and will feature a children’s picture book about feeding tubes and other ways some people receive nourishment.
